Can Blogging Help You Get More Online Writing Jobs?

Let me share a story with you. I started blogging just over a year ago using a free platform. I enjoyed it and I had quite a few followers over that year. The idea was that I would eventually get my own domain name and start blogging on that so I had full control over it, and that is what I do now.

But the whole experience of blogging has helped me in ways I hadn't really thought about at the time. For starters I wanted to do it purely for the enjoyment of it - to write about what I do for a living. I love online writing so it seemed natural to me to write about it.

But as it turned out it helped me to find more work. I connected up my Twitter profile with my blog and various other websites too, so I instantly became more accessible online. It was easier for potential clients to find me, and that made a big difference to how many clients I had that actually came to me - instead of me having to look for them!

This is the key and the main reason why all writers - would be or otherwise - should have a blog of their own. It is a way to showcase your talents for a start, but you can also build up a following that can include people who might want to hire you.

Most online writers who have their own blog write about writing in some way. But you can expand into other areas as well. Think about how you could make your blog unique - and most importantly make sure you can blog regularly.

You should always focus on writing your blog and developing it for your enjoyment more than anything else. If you spend every blog post writing about how unsuccessful you are or how desperate you are for an online writing position, you might not get the results you want!

Instead, focus on building up a good body of writing that people will enjoy. This will naturally begin to pull in an audience - and if people are looking for a good writer and they like your style, you could find yourself with a few writing jobs starting to trickle in.

Isn't it time you started your blog now?
