Like any good copywriter, you probably already have a swipe file to give you good headline and bullet point ideas for writing sales letters. But a swipe file is not always enough, sometimes you need to find some fresh headlines and you can do that quickly using blog searches.
When I need to find a good headline, one of the things I do is type my niche into a Google Blog search. To get to a blog search from most popular search engines, click the "Blogs" tab before beginning a search. A blog search is much more effective at finding headlines than a regular web search, because web searches include articles, business directories, product listings, when blogs are more personal and how-to oriented.
Try searching for a niche like "dog training" in a regular Google search. I get a wide spectrum of resources like free animal training, a Wikipedia entry on canine training, an educational article about dog behavior and a DVD for techniques for training dogs. There might be good headlines hidden somewhere on those pages, but we do not have the time to check every single page and hunt around for a good headline or phrase to use as a headline.
Then search for your keyword phrase using a blog search. You get results such as, "How Simple Training for Dogs Is!" Or, "Training Dogs: How to Achieve the Perfect Relationship." Or how about this one: "Number One Dog Training System" or even, "Things to Know Before Considering a Career in Canine Training." These are not the most exciting headlines in the world, but they give you a place to get started.
My personal favorite is, "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Positive Dog Training." We are not concerned with any old training for dogs, but positive dog training. This also is not just an idiot's guide but the complete idiot's guide. I hope hunting through blogs to get headline ideas will get you some really awesome results with your copywriting.
